*The European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD) is a not-for-profit organization recognized as serving the public interest. Established in Lebanon in 1989, it became a leader in empowering individuals – young men and women in particular – through vocational training and professional insertion, support for entrepreneurs and small businesses. IECD-Lebanon strives to promote the sustainable integration of the young people in the workforce.
Follow our growth
Launch
The ULEAP team begins operating as a social enterprise, graduating its first two technicians in electrical installation and maintenance, and successfully completing three projects.
2017
Quality and innovation
ULEAP expands its expertise to answer growing demand for energy services, including smart and green solutions as well as its “masterpiece” electrical panel board assembly.
2019
Partnerships and growth
ULEAP grows its network of local partners and assists Maxline in exporting 2 industrial lines to Uganda despite COVID-19 mobility restrictions.
2020
Upscaling operations
By securing a larger and more diverse number of projects, ULEAP is able to expand its activities and train more than 50 technical experts.
2021
National impact
In response to Lebanon’s electricity crisis, ULEAP is contracted by the French embassy to design and execute solar energy systems in 9 francophone schools across the country.
2022
Diversification and outlook
ULEAP is officially registered as a limited liability company (S.A.R.L) in Lebanon, and continues to grow its portfolio, developing automated solutions to control, protect, and operate water management facilities.
2024
The ULEAP journey
After Alaa graduated as an electro-technician, he set out to grow his skills and secure his future, only to be confronted with a lack of opportunities and support in his field.
By chance, Alaa enrolled in an emerging vocational training program launched by the Euro-pean Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD).
In just one short year, Alaa and fellow trainees acquired a professional work ethic combining technical expertise and a diverse range of soft skills. This transformative experience reinforced his confidence and facilitated his access to a fulfilling career path.
That program rapidly became ULEAP and, true to its name, it continues to grow and be a catalyst for empowering individuals and propelling them toward a brighter future.
