This project, financed by Agence Française de Développement (AFD), includes the installation of 926 solar panels in 9 French-speaking schools, a total of 510 KWp green energy .
Implemented by ULEAP under IECD, the initiative aims to harness solar energy to support the operational sustainability of schools, while promoting the use of renewable energies.
The initiative also aims to train young people in the installation and refurbishment of photovoltaic systems. Thanks to the efforts of all those involved, 80 young people have been trained, including 25 young women, and 926 solar panels have been installed in the nine beneficiary schools in Lebanon.
The ULEAP team embarked on their solar project with a comprehensive approach, starting with detailed energy audits to identify efficiency opportunities and tailor the photovoltaic (PV) system to specific needs of each school. They meticulously designed and engineered the system, ensuring it met all regulatory and technological requirements. The team then proceeded with the installation, enhancing the electrical infrastructure and assembling electrical panel boards with precision (ATS and MTS). Throughout the project, ULEAP provided ongoing maintenance, monitoring and end-users support, to ensure optimal performance and sustainability of these projects.
This holistic process not only delivered a reliable solar energy solution but also empowered local communities through job creation and skill development
Project Impact:
- Cost Savings: By utilizing solar energy, the schools have significantly reduced electricity costs, enabling them to allocate more resources to educational activities.
- Sustaining Operations: The consistent and reliable power supply from solar panels helps the schools maintain uninterrupted operations, even in areas with unstable electricity grids and unstable economic situations.
- Environmental Impact: The project reduces reliance on non-renewable energy, contributing to a greener environment and fostering sustainability awareness among students and the community.
